Critters’ Breakout: The First Philippine-Made Game That Turns Your Playtime Into Real-World Animal Rescue

by | November 27, 2025 | 0 comments

What if your next gaming session could literally save an animal?

A dog or cat on the street, a rescued puppy waiting for surgery, an abandoned senior dog needing daily food, or a dog in the pound waiting for someone to give it a second chance.

This is the core idea behind Critters’ Breakout, a groundbreaking new title by Big Infinity Manila that transforms gameplay into real-world impact. It’s the first video game designed to directly fund animal shelters & advocacy, powered by what the studio calls its “Empathy Engine” — a gamified philanthropy model that merges entertainment with compassion.

Gaming With Heart

Critters’ Breakout is a fast-paced, survival-style multiplayer chase game where players earn Critter Coins, an in-game currency that can be donated to real animal welfare groups like PAWS, CARA Welfare Philippines, AKF – Animal Kingdom Foundation, Biyaya Animal Care, and more..
Every donation made inside the game is converted by the studio into actual cash support for each partner shelter.

The game also features shelter-themed skins, cosmetics, and customizations, with a portion of proceeds going directly to the NGOs. Even the game’s environment includes nods to local rescue organizations, turning entertainment into education and awareness.

This is gaming reimagined: play, have fun, and save lives at the same time.

A Filipino-Led Creative Movement

Big Infinity Manila may carry Hollywood experience, but its heart beats Filipino.

Founder Donavan High and his team previously worked on major titles for Marvel, Disney, Netflix, and HBO, including Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, and Westworld. After years in the global studio system, they realized they wanted to build something with purpose. Something that could genuinely help real communities.

That vision sparked the creation of Critters’ Breakout, now just days away from launch, driven by a Philippine-based leadership team with CEO Lali Saulo and COO Albie Afan at the helm.

“One thing that truly sets us apart is how deeply connected we are to our community,” Lali shares. “We’re not just building a game, we’re partnering with shelters, sanctuaries, and advocates to create a digital consciousness shift in the youth and in the world. The creativity, grit, and heart you find here in the Philippines are unmatched.”

Donavan adds, “I’m grateful to be working alongside such passionate Filipino talent. At this point, I even consider myself an unofficial national.”

Beyond a Game: A ‘Critterverse’ of Impact

While early comparisons place Critters’ Breakout alongside titles like Fortnite and Dead by Daylight, the studio is building something more ambitious, a Critterverse, where players are rewarded for doing good.

The long-term vision:
A fully gamified philanthropy ecosystem where players can contribute to causes, unlock opportunities, and even develop income-generating pathways as the universe expands.

“We’ve embedded a forward-thinking funneling system into our economy,” Albie explains. “Players earn Critter Coins, they donate, and those donations become real funding for shelters. It’s impact-driven game design, entertainment with measurable results.”

For Big Infinity Manila, this model isn’t just a feature.
It reflects the company’s core identity: creating art, stories, and worlds that bring real change to real lives.

A New Era of Purpose-Driven Play

Critters’ Breakout stands at the intersection of gaming, advocacy, and community building.
It champions a new category altogether: Gamified Philanthropy.

“We believe games can inspire action,” Donavan says. “And we’re here to prove that players are capable of tremendous good, when given the right tools.”Because for Big Infinity Manila, it’s never just about building worlds.
It’s about changing one.
